We hit up mission trails for a evening ride but were tossed a curve when we found out that the northside of the preserve was closed due to a fire that was still smoldering.... we road thru a section that was all scored and could see tape and fire trucks ahead. So we turned around and headed up the mission trails visitor center climb.... A climb I have heard much about (aka it is evil!) we had a fun descent down a then I put the hammer down. I wanted to really try and puch myself. I pushed granny #2 for 90% switching to my last gear just at the top cresting the climb! good stuff I was feeling good I went part way back down to ride the rest with the guys and me being stupid thought I'd try and help Tony out and as I rode with my hand on his back I went to give him one last push and in the process I crashed..... dumb.... I got back on and climbed up we then headed down S-turns and then back up. me and joe killed it! I have never gotten up that climb with such little problems and feeling so good a the top. Back to the cars and home.... short but good training! Activity

Great ride home from work, I was tooling.... I lifted at lunch and thought I was going to be tired... My mind was on all the stuff I had to do to get the GTI ready for sale today and I just wanted to get home. I switched my HR monitor to time so I couldn't see my HR and hammered. My lungs were still not 100% but I noodled getting stuck at a couple lights but I had my head down and pushed passing many riders of the trail. I swear for every Rabbit I passed I saw a new one ahead and I caught and passed them too :) All with a HUGE pack on my back :) Def laft good! We'll see how that translates to the MTB ride today after not eating dinner and cleanign the GTI for 3 hrs last night.... Activity

So my first road ride in 2 weeks was ok. Speed and time wise I was good, my time was close to a PR and my avg HR was lower then my PR. But my lungs were junk today.... All the dust from this weekend really irritated my lungs :( But it was a good ride in I pushed hard gears up the climbs (middle 3 up the black mnt road climb) lift at lunch more road after work and then LOTS of sleep! Well after the marrathon ride the day before why not ride more :) Another "shuttle run" called Just Outstanding (which is also the name of a amber ale at the local brewery at which we found out about the ride) We shuttled our selves this time up to 6,200 feet we climbed a little to almost 7,000 feet before heading down. and down we went! the dust was insane! but the trail was sick none the less! Crazy tight tree cover, ripping turns, steep descents. Just Outstanding! We passed thru this one section of short trees that crossed and covered the trail like swords in a bad middle ages movie.... was sick! We then had an option of fire road descent or climb to descend more.... us being stupid (mainly me) said lets climb :) we climbed up ~800 feet on a fire road climb till we got to another deceision head down on fire road or head up a little more and ride tons of rolling single track.... single track it was! steep downs, followed by steep ups! I was feeling much better and cleared alot of the tech steep climbs :) The moto ruts made things a bit loose and tough in sections but all in all it was sick. We ended on a fire road ripper to a paved road and then had a short climb up to get back to the cars. Activity

Wow this was an insane ride! We got up at 7am and jumped a shuttle to the top of sherman pass 9,200 feet. I started the first 10 yrds and crashed.... yea it was loose to say the least. We proceeded to climb/hike up to the top of Sherman Peak at 9,950'! Yea that is the highest I've ridden my bike to shuttle or not. We hit the decent down form Sherman pike sick rocky goodness! We got back to Sherman pass and headed down for a bit thru some sick Moto style whoops (the sandy conditions put a little bit of a damper on the section but it was fun non the less) We then climbing back up to ~9,200' this may have been a "shuttle run" but the sandy conditions and technical climbing made it one hell of a tough ride. The downhill sections were rough and took lots of concentration and work, and were followed by tech or sandy climbs so the rest was far and few between. Work is good! we made it down to Big Meadow and found the spring and refilled our packs as dehydration was easy to fall into as humidity was def 10% or less. We made our way thru some cow pastures with land mines everywhere! But finally we made it! the main descent! 10 miles and 6,000 feet! The conditions were loose and I laid it down a couple times... Then upon Joe's observation I aired down to an insano 15psi while the bike felt odd and squishy I didn't crash. And really was enjoying this section even though I was border line hillusinating I was so tired! We stopped to fix the 4th flat of the day and my stomach started cramping! and I was feeling bad! but once back on the bike I was feeling better and we finished strong! Activity

Well after my longest rest period since February I started feeling better after an 8 day stomach bug and went back to it. Hit up mission trails and did that same loop as my last ride there. I def didn't feel as strong as I did a week or so ago but non the less it was a good first ride back. I didn't clear the switch back at the end of spring canyon and I was dreadfully slow on the decent to the rusty barrel... front tire just didn't have any confidence.... But PQC tonight we'll see how I feel before the BIG ride at the Plunge Saturday! Activity
