New Toys

Couple new toys come to help with commuting/night rides

Cygo TriEx!!! this thing is brighter than a cars headlights!

yes that is the battery (yea lith/ion) the lights and battery is smaller and lighter then helmet lights battery and 675 lumens (over 150!)

and for the rear a frog, damn this thing is bright! and stylish :)

I was really looking forward to this ride as my goal was to go slow :) Hit the climb up to miramesa and was in 36-25 cranking the pedals over slow but thinking circles and very broke 165 :) hahahahah up to caroll cyn and thru miramar I got passed by a total daily commuter guy MTB, knobbies, paniers, and it took every bit of will power to not pass and drop the guy :)

I think I took a big step today, the ability to not try and go 100% or even 80% but how to chill and enjoy just turning the pedals :)

Today was a pre-ride of the 12hrs of Temecula race in a few weeks. Headed up with the guys from Kashi to show them around. We hit the trail at ~10am and it was already pretty warm.

Across the sand pit (while wasn't too bad!) and onto the fire road. The fire road was pretty packed and was getting hopeful that conditions were gonna be good and they were.

Cleared the damn climb with no problems at I'd say 80% race pace. Then across the ups and downs up top, the new switch backs were way loose! I dabbed there, but the rest of the sections were pretty good!

Then we descended the main ridge (which turns out was the wrong decent but the trail was in great shape so I think the marlin ridge decent will also be good) up the Ambulance road which again was not sandy all packed nicely!

Down the tunnel of love (such a fun section) and then we headed up thru the whoops and then did the BMA track and the military climb. fun pre-ride decent time for stopping so much and hangin out. Can't wait for the race!

After building a bike rack for the E and grabbing a new saddle for the CX bike ;)

We headed up to ATT, hit the road up and onto the trail hit the fun little decent to the base of the main climb, and then up we went!

Matt was gone as the single speed only has one speed and on climbs its usually fast! I sat back and set tempo as I knew it was a 5 mile climb and this was my first MTB ride in 2 weeks. I passed Matt a lill while up the climb as he was taking a breather and I was feeling good so I picked up the pace a bit.

I got about 80% to the top of the ATT and hung steak and turned around and headed back down a bit to regroup. We regrouped and then headed all the way up to the top of the ATT.

We hung there for a few mins then went up a lill more to get in some single track. The single track was mad fun and flowy though I stacked it trying a harder line down the rock face that leads back to the ATT... oops :)

We flew down the rest of the trail till Joe got a flat, so we got that all fixed and then climbed back out and too the cars. Great first ride back!

Ride home was ok, this Fuji saddle has to go! the shape just makes for a painful ride... But I hit the main climb up to Mira Mesa with some good effort, then kinda soft pedaled past the highschool and down to carrol cyn as the seat was killing me!

Up to Miramar felt good and cranked thru miramar, this gears is way small but its ok just not used ot hitting big ring and lower half of my cassette. Kinda soft pedaled and stood up for the last bit of the ride as the damn saddle was killing me!

First ride in on the CX bike. I set out just before dawn with the Santa Anna blowing the sky was all orange and red really nice am.

But since there were no clouds it was chilly could have used booties. Started out ok getting used to the shifting on the double 12-25 setup (36-46 up front) Mostly rode in big ring. Was running a bit behind at the 52 but not that bad.

Hit miramar and had a wheel sucker for a bit was really surprised the guy didn't come around and take a pull or just pass me as I was riding slow. But I dropped him on the climb to the 15 up Carol Cyn road. Over the 15 and past the high school I was feeling like crap lungs 1-10 were @ a 3! dry air missed a couple doses of asmanex = feeling like I had a chest cold....

Across the 15 path over the pass to saber springs and the temps dropped like 10 deg! brrrrr soft pedaled up to work in what was the worst time I have ever had to work but hey I 'm on a new bike (heavier and slower) and feel like crap not that bad.
