Well wanted to punish myself today. I pushed hard on every climb, even the small ones.

I am so bad at getting dropped on short climbs. So I tried to hold the tempo I had on the section before up the small climbs grinding out even sprinting at times (like on the San Dieuito decent)

The first climb I followed Joe's wheel and he road a good tempo, when we hit the 2nd part of the climb, I put the hammer down! We held at least 17 mph up the climb (not exactly sure as I forgot my HR monitor and computer) But based on my gearing we were flying. Man did that hurt we hit the stop light at Camino Del Sur and I didn't even have the legs to accelerate again.... after a slow climb up Camino Del Sur the legs came back and I tried again to put the hammer down on a small climb but 3/4 of the way up I let up as I just didn't have the legs (and I dropped Joe for a change)
Did Torrey Pines outside but felt pretty good, much better than the last time I did it.

Wow started out the ride ripping! cleared the first 2 climbs and was feeling good.

Got to the windy woods section and on a left hander lost the front tire and went down so fast I didn't even put my hands out!

My head hit the ground so hard that my damn mellow left a 6" deep divit in the ground! damn I wish I had a camera cause I Owned that dirt with my head! :) Helmet looked ok, wasn't the crash that was bad it was the sudden stop at the end :)

Got up and def had a cloudy head..... kinda rolled thru the next couple sections def wasn't feeling all there.

As the ride went on I started to get some confidence back and was feeling better. I actually road all on Extra credit and was a little slow on the last down hill (just more causius than anything) Got a lill headache now but not nausious or anything so I should be good.

Haven't went down that hard since a took a digger on eticket in mission trails ~1 year ago.

I'll bounce back, all in all a good ride actually bested my best time down the trail.

Another good ride at mission trails.

First ride back in clipless pedals and...... I crashed 2 times :) Both on technical climbs where I couldn't get my feet out :)

One thing that caught me by surprise was my lack of confidence on the downhills...... feed back from the pedals to the shoe was so strange.... just couldn't figure out what the bike was telling me.... It will come with time.

I cleared the first tuff climb, but the second one is where I biffed 2X.... I then felt the great advantage of the pedals on the short steep ups you can totally crank and accelerate up the climbs. Didn't clear S turns either as I was too affair of falling over again.

Its harder than a normal XC bike as my IF has a super slack headtube angle it wheelies and I loose my balance. Loose your balance and you fall over..... So I need to start attacking the climbs harder keeping more speed and momentum and climbing out of the saddle to keep the front end down!

We'll see how it goes next week, no more XC this week.

Road friday then noble Canyon Saturday.

Had a decent post work ride.

Me and Joe set out, no Garey as he rode a hard ride earlier and didn't want to burn out.

Felt so so to start, then as the climbs came we just didn't slow down....

First climb we held 17mph up! ( usually 14-15MPH) then the second climb Joe set a tempo and we held 13mph! (I usually struggle to hold 10-11MPH)

But down the decent we got screwed and had to stop at a light (going form 40+ to 0 and start again.....

We didn't take long hard pulls like we usually do on the top area but still came in at a decent time.

Tomorrow first MTB in clipless pedals in 9 years....oy :)

Day offday

Took the weekend off did a bunch of erands and stuff. Legs were actually sore this am.

Took today to wrench on bikes a bit, my egg beaters came in. So yes I'm going back to the darkside. Clipless on the MTB. Only on the indy fab for now. cleaned and reinstalled the bottom bracket (I hate doing BB work what a pain)

Monday off also, tuesday road ride

Did my Psuedo Commute yesterday.

Drove to Sorrento valley then rode to work.

Man getting going in the am is hard, I felt very slugish for the first 30 mins! I softpedaled the first climb, but finally was feeling good on the second climb.

Home was much faster! 14.2 to 16.3 avg faster :) I added a climb at the end also since home was pretty much all downhill.

I will def be doing this ride more often this winter when daylight savings hits esp since it is 90% on a closed bike path.

Weekend off after 4 straight days of rides.

Kicked the tires on a shorter ride. Still did most of the normal look just did ~1 mile less.

Felt ok, didn't clear the tough climbs, but it was more for a ack of balance than legs/lungs.

Time was really closer to 1hr as Joe got a flat just after mile 3.

More MTB'ing tommorow

Me and Jeff hit up another Noble canyon run :) I def have to do this ride more often.

We hit the road at 8am, hit the trail by 9:30am Heat was def better in the am versus a couple weeks ago. The no hang iver thing also help alot :)

Road the first climb pretty good, totally hucked the road drop (decending skills are def caming back :) actually felt pretty good thru the second small climb then down down down :) I hucked the downed tree (2X I walked back up and did it again as its fun and I usually roll it felt confident today) and I also flew thru the tough rock section before the lill river crossing good stuff.

I didn't clear the final rock garden even after I walked back and tryed it again sec time I was in the wrong gear and just couldn't pedal thru so I dabbed once.

I actually felt ok thru the dester climb, although it was HOT! but slow and steady felt ok and road the whole thing!

Ripped the last DH and def felt good thru the final rock garden didn't dab once!

Hit up the Socal Euro GTG after a pretty good day all and all.

couple pics from the GTG, tommorow easy ride with Mirsad

Small group this week, couple new faces. Most of the fast guys weren't there so I was lookin forward to not getting my ass kicked.

Was feeling confident on the decent my bike handling skills are finally starting to come back to me, after riding too much road.

Went the easy way up cobles, (I didn't remember that way but after getting into it I remember doing it once before and it almost killed me....today it seemed easy I guess I have come pretty far in the past year or so)

Did about half of intestens and hit the Road to Wyamia. Felt really good on the decent! Had to keep giving room to the guy in front of me as I kept coming up on him.

Hit the Goat climb and got up it again, almost stalled 2 times in the tricky tek parts but pulled it off and actually felt ok at the top!

Day off tommorow then Noble saturday!

Another Wednesday ride, not to many people. was just me, Jeff, and Joe.

Felt ok to start, Felt really string on the Downhills guess the added time on the MTB is working.

The main climbs I cleared (except the Mission Impossible climb) Felt strong thru E ticket then flatted going into the valley..... 3rd flat in a week after not flatting in over a year!

Didn't clear the bitch climb again... damn I will get up that eventually, Joe put the screws to us on the final climb never hit my 34 tooth....

Good ride feeling much better than yesterday, more MTB tonight.
