So one more ride for the books going lighter on the climbing as my legs are def no responding like they were last week. But considering I'm in a bit of uncharted territory as far as this much riding I feel pretty good.

Met up with Newb to SD Ryan and hit up the Cobles loop. Down then up the powerlines and over to Rocking Horse.

Felt pretty smooth thru the tunnels today, bike skills were feeling good. We headed out the water crossings then back down rocking horse again.

This time it was dark and man that area is crazy at night but again I felt pretty good def slower but good. But the tunnel climb and back to the car. Last ride before the week off and Moab tomorrow!

PS Sept Biggest month of '08 despite (and ever!) mostly MTB riding 354.18 miles (232.04 MTB miles) 34,490 feet of climbing (26,143 MTB feet)

Much better ride home... Well ride back to the car dealer to get the Element.... Middle ring up all the climbs (my granny is becoming more and more useless :) ) then pushed big gears all the way (except on tyhe climb back up to Miramar middle ring)

But big ring all thru Miramar even at the turn west after the 52 where I usually drop it to middle for a short uphill I came out of the saddle and killed it!

Can't believe the legs are holding up ok (not the best) but that was my 11th ride in 8 days...... do work!

Wierd am.... I left the house to drop the element off at the dealer for a little work and there was thunder and lightening flashing in the sky....

It was to the east but not that far as I drove up balboa it started to rain good thing I had my rain gear in the bike bag. Dropped the car off and hit the road.

By now it was only a drizzle but the new LG jacket was working well! I was SLOW today! 1.) I was tired... 2.) I'm on ride #9 in 7 days....

Over the 163 headed north at a snails pace my Max HR never even broke 157 :) chill ride :) We'll see how chill my ride is back as the dealer closes at 6:30 PM and I maybe have to fly to get there in time :(

Ride #2 of the day I was a bit tired but looking forward to seeing how tired I really was.

Off from the visitor center I cruised down into the gorge and started up the main climb... 15% for a mile.... Bumped into a Newb to the area and he agreed to try and hang (he could have smoked me for all I knew) so we headed up to the top of the Mesa (Dan was close behind).

Across the top (I was chatting with him like an 'Ol lady and almost ran over a rattler....thanks for the heads up Dan)

we took the long was and headed west at the mesa split rocked the decent down to into the 52 gorge and hit a bit of construction after bushwacking a bit and trespassing probably we were back heading east and climbing up the side of N. Fortuna. I dabbed on the really steep section getting back on the main trail the legs were ok but the conditions of the trail were 3' deep silt....

Then it was up the 4 steeps 1st was easy, 2nd, fine, 3rd, ok, 4th I killed it and cleared it for the 2nd day in a ROW! that is the 2nd time ever!

Down the side and over the woops down E-ticket and fly thru the canyon! hit the picknic tables and it was time to get up S-turns.

I was feeling good and I thought I had a better chance then the day before as I wasn't hammering quite so hard. I cleared it with authority! I had a quick feeling like I was gonna puke at the top but it pasted quickly :)

Down the Fire road and I cooked myself heading back to the car. Great ride... only 8.76 mile? with 1700+' of climbing made that feel a HELL of a lot longer :)

OK 2nd ride in 14hrs felt good. Met up with Archie who needed an ass kicking after spending a few weeks showing some newbs the ropes :)
Some had to do it man :)

We headed out from the lower Sorrento lot then up past the water fall and all was good. We then headed up power lines I had a rabbit in front he looked quick so I tried to drop him on the first big up where I dropped matt on Tuesday hoping for no repeat of tuesday where matt caught me I hammered and beat the guy soundly and he wasn't going that slow.

I turned back a min to pick up archie again and we headed to the tunnels. Down Rocking horse I was feeling pretty smooth esp for the loose conditions. We headed over the water crossing and back up to the mesa.

Then it was back down Rocking horse and man I always feel faster the second time around. We ripped that section and up the tunnel climb all middle ring and back across the mesa to go down Cobles.

Ripped cobles and back down the waterfall to wagon wheel. Archie pulled out at the lot and me being a glutten for punishment I went up the goat climb! I smashed it! only got squirely on the 3rd section which is def the hardest! up to the top and them powered down Lopez.

Great ride! hitting up mission trails for more climbing and punishment this afternoon!

So I bagged out the am ride as I was soooooo tired and my bike was a mess as I haven't touched it since Kernville! So I worked on the bike totally removed the derailuers and cleaning it up. I also need new brakes and need to install my new Maxxis tires for Moab...

But off to Mission Trails I was and I was looking to beat myself up... I started off going up the visitor center climb and I didn't stop there I went all the way to the top of the Mesa no dabs! (that us 1 mile @ 15% avg grade!)

Then down to the 52 and back up the side of North Fortuna and I cleared the top section!!!! That is the first time I've done that in clipless pedals! Drivers on the 52 prob heard me yell in pain/excitement.

Down E-ticket and thru the canyon up S turns where I dabbed once I was so mad as it would have been so sick to clear it at the pace I was going but it was a quick dab and prob didn't really slow me down.

Down the fire road (hence the ~30moh mark on the speed chart) and back to the car hammering all the way.

Finished and was hurting that was the hardest 8 mile ride I've every done! Def at race pace I didn't let up or stop once!

Just a fun ride thru the UCSD trails. Never been but this was a chance to get a guided tour at the SDMBA event Pedals and Pints. Quick road ride over to the trails and then it was a twisty, windy, rip thru a ton of fun single track. No big climbs no real pushing just chill :) and I won a Sram chain in the prize give away :) Bonus!

Not my best of rides not my worst....

It was a HOT one today... Heading out the legs had very little spring after 4 days straight but they falt good and the lungs were there also.
I was hoping for a good ride. I turn onto the trail and didn't get quite the reaction out of myself as I had hopped. I started off alill slow but was picking it up as I climbed.

I dubbed for the first time in I don't know how man rides on the 1st steep :( conditions are pretty loose and my rear tire is toast but still... That kicked me back a few sec but I thought I could make it up.

So I hammered the top section and did a 16:16 to the top (175 AVG HR) so that isn't bad and my decent was good aslo 9:46 (158) both with 2nd bests to last week.

Lots more riding to do I'm sure I'll be pretty beat up come Monday/Tuesday....

So after a late start getting out of work me and Jeff did a 90% night ride.... Def wanted to get in more night riding but this one was one of the creepiest on record :)

We started out heading thru Mission Gorge to the grass lands and up spring, once in the thick of it the damn coyotes were howling like mad... not just one or two chatting they were all about as we rode down the trail seemed like they were warning each other about something (I was hoping about us not a mnt lion or anything) At first I just yelled back and told them to shut it :) but after the 5 or 6th one I got a bit nervous :) (I'm such a wuss and it gets worse)
We were riding at a fun pace and headed up the rusty barrel trail we got up that (I dabbed a couple times man it is hard to pick good lines at night)

Then the fire road to the very top is all washed out so I walked most of that also. Up top we had a HUGE deer cross in front of us, yea glad we weren't on a decent going 25mph+ as that would have been a knock out blow.... Jeff rocked it out down that first section of Oak (which I could barely walk down as usual man I HATE uber loose steep stuff)

I congrad him and we start to head off down oak when I freak like a little girl and stop as I see the Biggest rattler I have EVER seen in person..... I could only see the back half of him on the trail but he was thicker around than my ARM! (turns out as we watched him head off into the brush he just ate so I saw the FAT part and freaked out. he was still a 4 footer and 3" around I was happy to get out of there :)

I rode slow the rest of the way down Oak scanning the edge of the trail for more wild life. Rats, wierd ground birds, and general stuff was everywhere.....

Which is a bad idea when night riding as it hard enough to see the trail never mind watching the side... hence I was slow.... Up the switch backs I did.... ok I dabbed 3 times (thos lefts are always hard) but the night made it very hard to get the lines right. I was ok with the way I did as I was gaining back that make what line you have work night ride thing to over come again. Down rusty barrerl I was a bit slow (compared to day) but having fun and relaxed.

We then headed up the last single track section and back to the car.

Another Ride in the books and a sketch one for the ages....

First MTB ride in over 4 days.... PQC transition/night ride we headed down Cobles (and almost killed 3 hikers I need a bear bell) and once we got to the whoops we saw Matt and Tara so I talked them into climbing up powerlines.

Where the second push is I dropped Matt and went out hard and spiked at 190!
I was fading a bit and I knew he was going to gain on me at the end. I hear "go matt!" from jeff below and there matt was about to pass me! I shifted down but didn't quite have the time to accelerate to fend him off :( He got me by about 1/2 a bike but

I kept pushing up the next section as him and Tara went back to cobles
as they didn't have lights. Me and Jeff then went down rocking horse I wasn't feeling super fast. but ok and then we hit the end and headed back thru the water crossings. Coming out of the water crossings I stayed in middle ring like last week but it hurt alot more this week! the lungs weren't feeling that good :(

we cruised back to rocking horse and now we hit it in the dark! I felt
Pretty good in the dark! We caught a group in front of us and gave them a break then caught them again. this time we climbed out the tunnel and middle ring was the way again felt ok again not as good as last week. We did a quick loop up top and then hit the fire road back to the car. We saw lights starting to catch us on the fire break so Jeff told me to put the

Hammer down and I pushed it back to the car and dropped that group :)
more tonight and I'm pretty much riding the next 8-9 days straight!

Post work ride home I wanted to try and move a bit faster, so I hit the first climb pretty hard and kept it going up to mira mesa. Then it was big ring down to caroll cyn and a good push up to Miramar rd.
I was feeling ok, so I pushed big ring all the way thru Miramar and over the 52 to clairemont mesa blvd! I hit a couple lights including one where I was gonna gun it thur and saw a cop last minute and didn't want a ticket so I
came to a skidding halt! It was dark at that point which was making it harder to ride super hard as light was tuff..... But a good ride at 1:04!

Ok playing catch up here.... Crazy weekend sold the GTI, Paid off the Jeep :), and Bought a Honda Element :)

In there I did no biking.... It was good I needed the break.

Monday am I rode into work, I was a bit tired, I never can seem to really get the engine going quickly in the am. I kind of putted the first half of the ride, still making it to the 52 in 30 mins then I
Put a bit more power into the pedals but nothing big. Just cruised into work. Lungs were at a 6 and the legs were great and fresh.

PR! :) After a ho hum ride last night I was unsure how I was gonna feel on my lunch ride today.

Hit the road and started out at a pretty good pace, hit the trail and put the hammer down! I was big ring till the top of the first section its just so steep that big ring was tuff but I pushed on and I almost dabbed on the ledge as conditions are getting loose and my rear tire is toast!

From there on I left very little on the trail, I hit the houses in less than 12mins, I knew I was on a good pace and didn't wanna loose it on the last section. I hammered up the last steep and switched on my big ring for the ridge section out of the saddle alot! I hit the top in 15:52 (175) YUP that is 1:06 better than my PR!!!!! and I had a little more left, I mean I was pretty beat but I prob could have knocked another 10-15sec off if I pushed 100% earlier on.

It was hot as hell in the back of the canyon too, my camel back was pretty empty (I thought I had more water) and the wind was non existent back there.

Down I decided I wouldn't push it since I went up so fast but 9:35 (155) down was only 15 sec off my PR down. Overall ride 45:05 was a minute or so better than my PR from last week :)

I am getting a bit burnt as far as motivation, but the legs feel great! 2 more weeks then rest for Moab!

The Neck is feeling a measure better but its still not quite all there. This was a transition ride (from sunset to dark) man it is hard to see out there in those long shadows and when you can kinda see the trail but your lights is just out of reach to give it full definition....

So out spring we went, I didn't have my best climb ever I dabbed 2x... then down the roller single track to the end of the sycamore ride and thru the single track there to Mast. I felt pretty good on the single track esp as it got darker. Its hard to see at night but I'm pretty comfortable at night.

Down Mast to the horse center and back to the car, I was thinking about doing the visitor center climb but I didn't want to do it alone at night. Lunch ride today before a day off and a LONG ride Saturday!

So I lifted at lunch and note to self do not do standing rows with your head up... I usually do them with my head down and man my neck is Killing me.....

I almost bailed on my ride but I really wanted to push it. So I hit Cobles and man my neck killed! But I pushed on and I pushed up powerlines, call me BIG RING BOBBY (well my big ring is most people's middle 32T) never done that before I pushed 32x30 up the whole hill and no stopping at the ledge I went all the way to tunnels.

I did a loop up top and my neck was really tossing me for a loop. But I got to rocking horse and down I went I was feeling so so as far as skills.... But I made me way thru the water crossings and that is when I started feeling good...

Exited the water crossings and pushed big ring up the climb out! Then I did the single track up top and then back down rocking horse and this time I was FLIYING! ripping turns accelerating out I was on a mission. The the climb out BIG RING again! I only switched into 32x34 fo rthe last 20 yrds! Back across the fire break and to the car..... 1:09!!!!!

I couldn't believe that I just did that ride in almost and hr.... it is pretty tech and tight and I avg'd almost 10mph. Good stuff! Hope the neck feels better tomorrow night ride wednesday.

I was sleepy but hoping for a good strong ride home.

I hit the road and started strong never used the granny middle ring up all the climbs. Up to Mira Mesa and past the highschool held the big ring for a while and down carol cayn rd. Big ringing all thur miramar and BAM!!!!

Giant piece of glass in the front tire right by the 163..... I stopped my watch and did a quick tire change and started it back up. Not sure if it helped me or hurt me...

It was hard to get the engine going again but once I did I was feeling strong I pushed Big ring all down Claremont Mesa and took it up to dakota new PR by 2 mins.....

But the pause for the flat tire prob had something to do with that :)

Easy ride to work today... I started out very slow, wet, dark, drizzling conditions. I wore my PI vest but could have used my jacket and some booties... The mist was cool it was in the lower 60's and the sun never got out I was riding with my light on all the way to work.

Good to get a few pedals in after being lazy yesterday and not riding (though I did do landscaping work for a few hrs so its not like I was at the bar watching the Pats game) Lifting at lunch then riding home (hopefully my clothes dry.....)
