New Loop, the rob mini Loop, fun! We set out on to the 56 bike path nasty head wind. We go up and into Rancho Santa Fe and down to the base of San Diegito Rd. Me and Rob go pedal for pedal dropping the rest of the group 3/4 of the way up I attack but I knew I went too soon I just wanted to see how far a gap I could open. Rob tracks me down again and we hang together I slow my pace a lill to see if he comes around me but he sits on. the last big rise I hammer and attack again this time opening up a 20yrd gap I think to myself I can hold this but then remember we have a bit of riding left and conceded the hill to Rob. We head up thru 4S ranch and over to RB good thing I sat up as I was pretty tired at the end def bonging as I had a lill honey dew mellon and some rice cakes for breakfast.... need more energy then that to hang on these rides! Crap I'm seeing now my GPS screwed up have to hand input later

So its long ride Friday and we decide to go up to the fire house and around the lake. early in the ride one guy gets a flat 2 of us stop and help and get back on the road. Up the climb I drop the 2 guys I'm with early on and hold a large gap to the top I felt good!

I went back down part way to ride up again with the guy trailing. We head over to the lake and cruise for a bit then I decide its time to hammer, I hold 20+ for the rest of the time around the lake which is pretty squirrely but I managed good times. We hang at the end for a bit waiting for slower riders and then cruise on back to work a great lunch ride.

Great short lunch ride! We set out and I told myself to take it easy but 2 guys jumped off the front early I let um go but I'm not sure why but I wanted to reel them in.... I put my head down and hands in the drops (I've been riding in the drops more and more getting used to a better aero position in the wind) I could see then way ahead on the long flat stretch and they were working together but I knew I could pull um in.

At the base of the climb I caught them! but as we started the climb I fell off from the effort of the catch. I tried to keep the gap manageable so I could try and attack toward the top. The guy up front was gone! but the 2nd guy was fading, and with 100 yrds left I came out of the saddle and caught and passed him holding a small gap to the top :) I chilled out after that and enjoyed the cruise back :)

I'm not really sure what to say about this ride..... There were good parts....? there were good people..... there were bad parts....there were really really annoying people..... Lets put it this way Jeff left 2hrs into the ride to ride an hr on the road back to the car to get away....I kept on marching.

Up around sweet water we did hit some sick single track and a really really fun windy climb where I crushed even though my legs are def tired from yesterday.

I climbed finally the famous 7 bitches.... more like 7 annoying chicks from long island (aka the climb wasn't that hard I'd put it in the fun category :) It was nice to get out and ride today though the weather was great and a day on the bike is always a good day :)

Great race today. The weather was really cold and I wasn't ready for the cold but lucky me I had my rain jacket and a IP skully in my bag.

I warmed up by heading up the ridge and down the whoops, and checked out the start. it was warming up alill but still cold. I took the hat off while lining up but kept the jacket. We did this odd nuetral start which took us out a fire road and into single track... well stuffing all those people in a single track wasn't good and it backed up bad! I tried to fight forward but it had to go single file. Thru the start finish I was like well there goes my good start....

From now on I'm getting up in the front with the pros/experts.... We head up to the top of milatary climb and then down it, back around and start heading toward the bridges climb.

I really like this climb as it is tech at the bottom and weeds out people who maybe fit but can't handle their bike. I had a guy in front of me who didn't look that tech savy so I red lined it to pass him right before the first switch back and don't ya know it he dabbed and held a ton of people up on the 2nd switch back :) (score one for scott) Up the rest of the climb it hurt but I was moving good, down the main descent I couldn't see a thing my damn glasses were all fogged up!

I got down and on the next climb I got them off and in my pocket. Now the sun came out... great and I'm sweating like crazy with this jacket on I open up the zipper and my jersey zipper, pull up the sleeves its better but not great. I hit the tunnel of love and the damn jack pops open like a parachute..... damn it.

I zip it back up and just deal with it. I'm cruising and feeling good, the 2nd lap I picked it up a bit and def was faster up the switch backs and pushed hard up top. I flew down the descent this time as I cool see :) up the ambulance road I kept in in middle ring and pushed hard (feeling almost sick at the top and alill light headed...) down the tunnel of love and back in. Lap 1 36 mins lap 2 35 mins....

I was feeling ok, I took that damn jacket off and I was SOAKED! but it felt great. I grabbed my camel back and GPS and went and did a 3rd lap def at a slower pace. I cleared everything and gave some encouraging words to some of the expert riders still out on course (mainly a SS guy that was hurtin) Great stepping stone for Los Olivos.

stairs and up the usual climb on the ensuing flat on the mesa I put the screw to everyone and I lost them,

I hit the descent and the up the next climb, down and up the steep up CLEARED IT! and kept going up all the way to the top CLEARED the top! and I put a hand on the fence and spun backwards for a good 5-10mins waiting for everyone :) down the rollers (man that trail is in bad shape) down Eticket and thru the rock garden now Sturns...

I was feeling confident but damn it! I dabbed as I hit my pedal on a rock man this climb kills me. Up to the top and a new single track back to the car. nice ride!

So we were up for a bit longer ride then the usual, but I was gonna cut out the trip up torrey pines are it was a lunch ride. We headeded out over Carmel Mnt and did that climb on the Northside of the 56 Jim went out pretty hard and I tried to follow, I saw him up shift at one point and I jumped on it and passed him but he pipped me at the very top. Down the desecnt I stayed just in touch and we hit the 56 trail and that was the end of us seeing the rest of the group :) Jim was doing 75% of the work I really tried to do my fair share but the the head wind out of the west it was tough work to be up front I tried and burned a match each time I was up front. We worked hard all the way to the end of the trail.
Jim was heading to do a longer ride so I turned around and headed back the way I came. I cruised out till I got to the base of the Del Sur climb and I kept a good cadence and killed it, then I got to the Black mnt climb. I wanted to put in a good effort and I kept a nice push up the hill and def felt like I put in a nice effort. I then put my hands in the drops and cranked out the next section man this tail wind was nice. Final climb was a steep short one and I pounded it out and felt good. Over to Saber Springs and the slow climb back up to work great lunch ride!

Wow I was really up for a pounding today and I gave it to myself.... Started out with a group from Mast and headed up sycamore and to the switch backs climb. I was really ok not a ton of pop but I didn't dab at all and was strong! Up the rest of the climb I was feeling ok (I think I was feeling good but these days I think back to this fall when my legs had great pop I think I am still as fast just feeling like I'm plateauing)

Then we hit the switch back descent and cleared it all! great conditions :) Now we did a few water crossings and over a new downed Tree that was a fun obstacle. Thru the canyon and to the gate I was feeling good.

We went up past the ranger station and I hit the short steep in my middle ring and banged it out! to the main road and we tried a new climb out but it dead ended at a private land gate so we turned around headed up the main climb to the top of Martha's. The new guy was on it and beat me to the top but only by a couple bike lengths and I knew we had along more riding to go!

Down Martha's this was the first time I rode our trail work there and it was was cool and Uber tech as usual but the conditions was bad and really sandy! Odd for this time of year. I turned up the speed on the next section and middle ringed it up the next quick climb.

We ran into a couple angry horse people and it was back off to the gate. Thru sycamore canyon this section never never disappoints! I was feeling good and quick, and we headed thru to the south side and I was cruising! We hit the fun single track on the other side and I turned it up!

I hammered all the ups and downs in my middle ring the legs we tired but working well. Back to the cars and I bid my friends farewell, we did that section in ~2hrs and I was off to Mission trails now. I entered the equestrian center and headed north up spring and was cranking middle ring! moving well. Once I got deep in Spring and the trail really started to go up I hit a wall!!!! my lack of breakfast was hitting me and I went into survival mode!

I only dabbed once going up spring where I almost got passed by local pro Chuck Jenkins but I kept up a decent pace and he didn't catch me ( I know he wanted too :) I stopped and ate some sport beans and shot blocks and drank some water and soft pedaled over to Oak Canyon and was feeling a lot better. Down Oak and then turned left and up the switch back climb. I cleared everything!!! all the switch backs!!!! I took it slow as my goal was not speed but to clear it! and I nailed it! Down the barrels (always fun!) and I finished uber strong back to the car! great ride:)

These guys have def stepped it up since I left, but that is good I need the beating. i didn't have the legs to stay with the leaders today and the cool weather had my lungs a bit irritated. But all considered...I'm burnt from work a bit....but I felt good. Mo riding tomorrow :)

Great ride on new trails! always fun! not a ton of climbing but the ups were steep and short! The legs didn't have a ton of pop but I cleared everything which I was pretty stoked about that! The new tubeless setup is the balls. They held all the air I put in then yesterday I had to drop the pressure for the ride and man i forgot how nice 20psi was for traction!

Great lunch ride it was the ass kicking I needed :) I wasn't feeling strong last week riding in a group again but I'm getting back in a groove! We went east and down pomerado rd to poway rd. Then it began with the quick bump up to Scripps poway pky I was in 4th with a small gap to the lead 3.

1/4 of the way up the main climb I caught 1 sat on his wheel for a min and made a jump up to the guy in 2nd but the climb was a lill longer then I remember and I couldn't hang with him... But I kept the gap I opened up on the guy I caught and held it to the top! Great work :) we then descended down to Scripps poway pkwy and then took the bike path to poway rd.

Time to climb again this time gradual grade all the way to work. I was again in 3rd but could hang onto the lead 2 as the incline started. I opened up a gap to the guys behind me and held it till camrel mnt where I got stuck at a light and caught the 2nd guy and we were both caught by the 4th.

We stayed together as 3 back to work where I didn't have the legs to fend off the sprint to the parking lot :) Legs felt better and the lungs were great! Fitness is coming back...

Met Joe down at Mission bay for an awesome flat road ride to Coronado where I was meeting Kerin at the beach. The weather has been sick it was def in the hi 70's to start ramping up to low 80's prefect!

We set off to down town and down thru national city the wind was at our backs and we were cruising but that met a nasty head wind out on the exposed strand. I put in nice bursts on the 1 or 2 bumps in the road and we made quick time to Imperial beach. Joe hooked me up with more water and we were off to do share some work on the Windy strand.

The wind was out of the North West and prob a good 15mph. We worked really well 30s pulls pop the elbow and trade it up. We did that really well for a bit then Joe (who was riding all the way home wanted to back down) so I took a long pull and was trying to hold the pace. Finally joe called me off thank god as I was getting spent and he pulled thru we work together well all the way onto Coronado good stuff.

We cruised down to the ferry port where there was a ferry waiting for Joe (score) and I set off to meet Kerin over on the west side at the beach :)
